[I'm guessing that the Federal contribution is coming from the  
Justice Department's off-budget settlement fund. This would bust the  
Defense Department allocation for Formerly Used Defense Sites. Does  
anyone know? - LS]

Moses Lake base cleanup continues

MOSES LAKE - The payment of $58.25 million in clean-up funds means  
more underground well sampling near the former Larson Air Force Base.

The work is expected to start later this summer or early this fall,  
said Rod Lobos, of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),  
recently.

The clean-up is being done because of contamination that happened  
near the base in the 1950s or 1960s, from the industrial solvent  
trichloroethylene, or TCE.
