That is great the Army Corps found no contamination on land that they are financially responsible for cleaning up.  Is there any independent study by anyone without a financial interest in the outcome?

Will this charade ever be changed?

Study at former MCLB sites finds no contamination

BARSTOW - A recently completed soil sampling study that looked at the
potential health impact of old ammunition at two old firing ranges
near the current Barstow Marine Corps Logistics Base found that the
sites shouldn't have significant health risks for people, animals, or
plants.

The study completed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in May looked
at two firing ranges used by Marines in the 1950s through the 1970s.
The two ranges were used for small arms training, including rifle and
pistols. The Army Corps of Engineers checked for potential harm from
leftover explosives and heavy metal contamination from the old
ammunition left at the sites.

The Army Corps of Engineers performs the studies to see if there is
contamination and if old sites used by the military need to be
cleaned up. In the case of the Barstow MCLB, the agency ruled that no
significant contamination was found and further action was not needed.
