Navy has plan to clean SouthField By Ed Baker Weymouth News (MA) August 28, 2012Weymouth - The Navy intends to inject a strong chemical oxidant into the ground under a hangar at the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station to nullify the effects of contaminants used by maintenance crews to clean aircraft years ago. Base Realignment and Closure Environmental Coordinator David Barney said a lot of hazardous materials were used for maintaining aircraft in Hangar 2, or Building 82, and the forthcoming cleanup is based on year of studies done by consultants. ...
