By Chris Sweeney Broward-Palm Beach New Times (FL) August 29, 2012There's more than meets the eye on the pristine grounds of Key Largo Hammock Botanical Park. Newly released documents from 2006 show that levels of lead and arsenic in soil samples taken from parts of the park exceeded the allowed residential and industrial limits. ...The park is located on grounds that once belonged to the Key Largo Air Force Station. One of the contaminated areas is near the former site of an underground storage tank that was part of a Nike missile launch site. The other contaminated area of the park was a former skeet shooting range. ...
