RIALTO: $21.5 million settlement reached in groundwater contamination

The Goodrich Corp. has agreed to pay at least $21.5 million toward the clean up of widespread groundwater contamination in Rialto, Colton and Fontana, federal environmental regulators said Tuesday, March 26.

The settlement is nearly the end of almost a decade of litigation over who will pay the estimated $100 million cost for water treatment and equipment, which will be needed for about 30 years, said Wayne Praskins, project manager for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
