Questions remain over polluted water By John Fleck Albuquerque Journal (NM) October 23, 2013 Air Force workers plan to begin pumping contaminated groundwater from a well near Kirtland Air Force Base next week in a test to determine whether it is practical to pump and treat water fouled by a base fuel spill. But officials still have not decided what to do with the water once it/s pumped from the ground, according to a report to be presented to the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority Board this evening. The pumped water will be run through a granular activated carbon filter to remove any contaminants, according to the report from Rick Shean, water quality hydrologist with the water utility. Options to be considered for disposing of the water once it's cleaned, according to Shean, include...
