Army proposes remediation plan for depot ‘Q’ sites

ROMULUS - The Army is proposing a remedial action plan for two sites  
at the former Seneca Army Depot.

Both locations - formally known as Sites 12 and 72 - are in the  
former “Q” area at the depot.

Site 12 was an area used for painting. Trichloroethylene, a paint  
solvent, has been found in soil around the building. The area was  
excavated in an attempt to locate the source of the contaminate, but  
it couldn't be located. Army officials believe there may be  
contamination under the building, which is why they are proposing a  
remediation plan.

Site 72 was a mixed waste storage facility. Although an investigation  
found no contamination, remediation is being proposed as a precaution.
