Foulger-Pratt eyes 500 apartments in Baileys Crossroads on site of BRAC’d office building by Michael Neibauer Washington Business Journal (DC) September 5, 2014 Foulger-Pratt has filed plans to replace a vacant office building in Baileys Crossroads with as many as 500 apartments, a project the developer describes as "pioneering" in the community's revitalization. In late January, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors initiated a comprehensive plan amendment to allow for residential development at 5600 Columbia Pike, a 4-acre parcel at the intersection of Columbia Pike and Carlin Springs Road. "Bailey's Gateway is a transformative multifamily residential project that will serve as a gateway to Fairfax County and a catalyst for redevelopment in Bailey's Crossroads," according to a statement accompanying the rezoning application. The 169,000-square-foot office building there was acquired by Government Properties Income Trust in 1996 for $13.5 million. Until 2011, it was occupied by the Defense Informations Systems Agency, which has since been relocated to Fort Meade in Maryland's Anne Arundel County as ordered by the Base Realignment and Closure Commission. … For the entire article, see http://www.bizjournals.com/washington/breaking_ground/2014/09/foulger-pratt-eyes-500-apartments-in-bailey-s.html -- Lenny Siegel Executive Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight a project of the Pacific Studies Center 278-A Hope Street Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650-961-8918 or 650-969-1545 Fax: 650-961-8918 LSiegel@cpeo.org http://www.cpeo.org _______________________________________________ Military mailing list Military@lists.cpeo.org http://lists.cpeo.org/listinfo.cgi/military-cpeo.org | |
