South Weber approves rezone for homes despite claims of contaminated
soil
by Bryon Saxton Ogden Standard-Examiner (UT) February 11, 2015SOUTH WEBER - Claims of potential contaminated soil as a result of the improper disposal of chemicals by Hill Air Force Base over the course of many years, did not prevent the South Weber City Council from approving a rezone that would allow home building to take place near the spill site. On Tuesday, the council unanimously approved the rezone of 4.57 acres at 400 E. Old Post Road from an agricultural zone to a low-to- moderate density residential zone. The somewhat rectangle-shape property is located south of Canyon Meadows Park and north of South Weber Drive. But before the council approved the rezone, they received a bold warning from longtime resident Brent Poll, a member of a group known as the South Weber Coalition, who claimed the property should not be built on until further testing of the soil in that area is completed by the city. ...
