Chesapeake weighs land buy to avoid encroachment By Mary Beth Gahan Virginian-Pilot April 8, 2015 CHESAPEAKE - The city hopes to buy nearly 60 acres of land in southern Chesapeake to ward off development and preserve the land around two military institutions. The two properties are next to Fentress Naval Auxiliary Landing Field and Hampton Roads Naval Support Activity, Northwest Annex.
