Could the San Francisco Shipyard's slew of housing reel in Google?

As developer Lennar Urban tries to lure the likes of Google Inc. to an unproven office hub on the southeastern tip of the city, it can use this tasty bait: Lots and lots of housing is getting built there.

The Hunters Point Shipyard-Candlestick Point project will eventually have 12,000 units over 800 acres, the first fraction of which have started sales and already sold out. Meanwhile, Silicon Valley tech giants that are pining for more housing to get built in the region. Facebook’s next campus in Menlo Park will likely include publicly accessible housing, while Google has urged Mountain View to approve dense residential development slots.
