Kelly's closure shook the city By Sig Christenson San Antonio Express-News (TX) August 10, 2015 Kelly AFB rose from a dusty flight-training base in World War I to a giant engine of economic transformation in San Antonio, creating jobs and a folklore that over generations became woven into the city’s consciousness.
