Dr. Katerina Dontsova and Dr. James Field (University of Arizona, Tucson) Thursday, June 2, 2016 12:00 PM ET (9:00 AM PT) Join SERDP and ESTCP on June 2 for three presentations highlighting Department of Defense (DoD) research results from projects on the environmental health criteria, fate and transport of insensitive munitions. First, Dr. Mark Johnson from the U.S. Army Public Health Center will talk about the development of environmental health criteria for insensitive munitions. Second, Dr. Katerina Dontsova from the University of Arizona, Tucson, will discuss measurements of the dissolution, photodegradation and soil adsorption properties of insensitive munition components to determine their fate in the environment. Third, Dr. James Field, also from the University of Arizona, Tucson, will focus on the biotransformation of a key insensitive munition under aerobic and anaerobic conditions. Additional Upcoming Events in the SERDP and ESTCP Webinar Series A May 19 webinar will feature the first half of a training developed from a collaborative effort between SERDP/ESTCP and the Intergovernmental Data Quality Task Force (IDQTF) on preparing a Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) for the use of advanced geophysical classification in munition response investigations. A QAPP integrates technical and quality control aspects of a project to ensure that collected data are the correct type and quality required for a specific decision or use. The preparation process includes planning (assessing data needs and systematic planning), project organization and personnel (project tasks and schedule, key personnel performing tasks defined in the QAPP, lines of authority, and lines of communication), data review (data verification, data validation, process validation, and data usability assessment), and data management and assessments (secondary data uses and limitations, project documents and records, and assessments and corrective actions).
