Oscoda toxic PFC groundwater plumes approaching Lake Huron By Garret Ellison MLive (MI) September 13, 2016 OSCODA, MI - More private drinking wells are testing positive for toxic fluorocarbons leaching from the former Wurtsmith Air Force Base and the chemical plumes have crossed an inland lake on their way to Lake Huron. The latest chemical plume map of the area shows a private well testing between 51 and 300 parts-per-trillion (ppt) for total perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) on the west side of U.S. 23 just south of Interlake Drive in Oscoda Township.
