Join SERDP and ESTCP on Thursday, October 20 for two presentations on Department of Defense (DoD) decision making and climate change. First, Dr. Richard Moss from the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory will discuss vulnerability assessments and resilience planning at federal sites, and will elaborate on three sets of methods required to project exposure to hazards, evaluate consequences and manage effective communications. Dr. Moss will also talk about suggested elements of a roadmap to support agencies in preparing for climate change, including additional methods development and capacity building. Second, Dr. Casey Brown from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst will describe and demonstrate a framework for assessing climate change risks to DoD installations and the built environment, and will present a general framework for assessing climate risks to military installations based on decision-scaling. Additional Upcoming Events in the Webinar Series
An October 6 webinar will feature three presentations on cyber security and its impacts on installation energy management. First, Dr. Michael Chipley from The PMC Group will provide a Department of Defense perspective on the issue. He will be followed by two technical presentations providing insights into research efforts funded by ESTCP. Mr. Kevin Jordan from Resurgo will discuss a new capability to mitigate and recover quickly from online and insider cyber activities directed against SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) infrastructure, while Dr. Daniel Quinlan from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory will talk about mitigating the risk of a cyber-attack from software upgrades to both critical electric grid infrastructure and building automations systems.
