BRAC says Fort Ord prescribed burns ‘were our most successful yet’ Weather, time allowed for two areas totalling 422 acres to be burned By James Herrera Monterey Herald (CA) October 5, 2017 Seaside - Weather conditions were favorable for the controlled burn of not just one, but two areas of the northern portion of the Fort Ord National Monument on Thursday. The Army had planned to have a prescribed burn on the 265-acres Unit B, but after that action was completed in about two hours, and time and weather allowed, the decision was made to expand the operation to the 157-acre Unit C. And though the favorable weather conditions may continue through most of Friday, officials say they will wait for another opportunity to perform controlled burns on three other units in the southern impact area.
