Elevated chemical levels prompt more testing at Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School By Scott O’Connell Worcester Telegram & Gazette (MA) July 5, 2018 WORCESTER – The state’s environmental protection department has ordered further testing at a local charter school where elevated levels of toxic chemicals were detected late last month. According to the agency, initial air testing conducted on June 9 found high levels of petroleum and other volatile organic compounds at Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School’s high school at 6 New Bond St. Brian Haas, the school’s executive director, said a specific compound detected was TCE, short for Trichloroethylene, a toxic chemical that the Environmental Protection Agency says can cause adverse health effects.
