Business plans to build $1.5M facility near Kearney Regional Airport By MIKE KONZ Kearney Hub/Grand Island Independent (MNE) August 29, 2018 KEARNEY - A company plans to build a $1.5 million facility and employ at least five people in Kearney’s industrial zone near Kearney Regional Airport, according to a memo from City Manager Mike Morgan to the Kearney City Council. Morgan said in his briefing to City Council members before their meeting Tuesday that the unnamed business is interested in one of the lots that, according to Tuesday’s agenda, will be transferred to the Economic Development Council of Buffalo County for development on land that is west of the airport and east of the Kearney East Expressway. ... In explaining the proposed property transfer, Morgan told the council that the Community Redevelopment Authority recently approved the creation of a redevelopment area - CRA Area 12 - that includes the property near the airport, in order to make available tax increment financing to potential developers.
