Officials address upcoming water study by KEN LIEFDESKIND Nashua Telegraph (NH) October 15, 2018 Officials from the Agency for Toxic Substance and Disease Registry addressed members of the Community Action Panel on Sept. 20, discussing the Pease contaminated water study it will conduct in Portsmouth. Patrick Breyesse, the ATSDR director, began the meeting by announcing that funding has been secured for the ATSDR study from the Department of Defense in $10 million annual installments. Frank Bove, ATSDR senior epidemiologist, discussed details of the study, including its concentration on exposure to contaminated water and the blood and serum testing that will be conducted on 350 children and 1,000 adults from the Pease population who participated in the New Hampshire Department of Health Pease PFC blood testing program in 2015. When CAP members asked if Pease military personnel could be included in the study, they were told that contamination from military and industrial occupations will not be included, since the study is focusing on water contamination and not contamination from firefighting and industrial chemicals. … For the entire article, see http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/news/local-news/2018/10/15/officials-address-upcoming-water-study/ -- Lenny Siegel Executive Director Center for Public Environmental Oversight a project of the Pacific Studies Center P.O.
