Evasive Measures: Air Force dragging its heels on reporting brownfield tests by GRAHAM JAEHNIG Daily Mining Gazette (MI) MAY 3, 2019 EAGLE RIVER — The Keweenaw County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority is still waiting for a report from the Air Force, nearly two years after water testing and soil testing was done at the former Calumet Air Force base on Mount Horace Greeley. Testing of groundwater and soils were conducted during the summer of 2017, five years after phase 1 and phase 2 environmental assessments were conducted on the site, which determined several hazardous materials both groundwater and soil samples. Also identified was the presence of lead-based paint and asbestos.
