Falmouth well to remain closed State review of proposed filtration system continues. By Christine Legere Cape Cod Times (MA) June 27, 2019 FALMOUTH - A municipal well on Old Barnstable Road that has been offline for two years will stay offline again this summer, even though an effective water treatment system has been found. Water Superintendent Stephen Rafferty notified the state Department of Environmental Protection on Tuesday that the town has decided to wait until next summer to restart the Fresh Pond well, which was closed in 2017 after perchlorate levels in the contribution area exceeded allowed amounts.
