Lead-contaminated soil to be removed from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst The project on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst has been in the works for 20 years. Some 5,180 toms of contaminated soil will be removed from the installation. By Lisa Broadt Burlington County News (NJ) July 26, 2019 WRIGHTSTOWN - A major step forward in environmental cleanup at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst will begin later this month with the removal of lead-contaminated soil. The former skeet range operated on 55.5 acres from 1943 to 1959. The contamination stems from the small-arms ammunition used at the range, according to the memo. … For the entire article, see https://www.burlingtoncountytimes.com/news/20190726/lead-contaminated-soil-to-be-removed-from-joint-base-mcguire-dix-lakehurst -- Lenny Siegel Executive Director Center for Public Environmental Oversight A project of the Pacific Studies Center LSiegel@cpeo.org P.O.
