Army seeks public comments on Stratford engine plant cleanup By Ethan Fry Connecticut Post November 30, 2019 STRATFORD — People of Stratford: the U.S. Army wants to hear from you. The Army’s Corps of Engineers will host a public meeting next month on its plans to clean up nearly 50 acres of mud flats along the Housatonic River on the site of the Stratford Army Engine Plant. … The plan calls for dredging up nearly 300,000 cubic yards of contaminated sediment. The most contaminated dirt, about 140,000 cubic yards, will be hauled away, and about 130,500 cubic yards will be used in the redevelopment of the property.
