Army Corps of Engineers tearing down former Brush Wellman buildings NBC 24 News (Toledo, OH) February 9, 2021 LUCKEY, Ohio — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo Districthas started removing buildings at the former Brush Wellman site to clear out contamination. From 1949 to 1958, Brush operated as a beryllium production facility there while contracted to the Atomic Energy Commission. In 1951, it received roughly 1,000 tons of radioactive scrap steel for proposed magnesium production.
