Salina's Utilities Director talks about what the city is doing to be proactive about PFAS By Charles Rankin Salina Journal (KS) January 28, 2024 Substances that are commonly referred to as "forever chemicals" show up in everyday items and as they are now being found in drinking water systems across the United States, cities like Salina are taking steps to figure out what's next. Chemically known as per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, these chemicals are found in consumer products such as nonstick cookware, food packaging, water resistant clothing and more and are considered toxic to humans at very low levels.
