With the Salina Regional Airport at the heart of contamination worries, stemming from its past as the Schilling Air Force Base, the city's proactive stance in 2024 marks a significant chapter in its environmental management efforts. Spearheaded by Martha Tasker, the director of utilities, the initiative is not just about addressing the past but safeguarding Salina's future. As part of the city's resolve, an ambitious testing program has been rolled out, targeting 29 different PFAS chemicals.
