New owners of vacant Stratford Army Engine Plant aim to start demolition this fall By Richard Chumney, Connecticut Post June 19, 2024 STRATFORD — The new owners of the former Army Engine Plant plan to start tearing down the facility as soon as this fall, the first step in what is expected to be a yearslong effort to redevelop the waterfront property. The long-awaited remediation and demolition of the sprawling complex, which once manufactured World War II Corsair fighter-bombers but has sat vacant for nearly three decades, is expected to take at least two and a half years to complete.
