EPA orders Andersen to address 'deficiencies' in open burn, detonation application By Joe Taitano II Pacific Daily News (GU) August 21, 2024 Andersen Air Force Base has until Sept. 20 to address a number of “deficiencies” in its application for a permit to keep open detonating and burning hazardous materials alongside Tarague Beach, according to an Aug. 6 letter from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. A revised permit application from Andersen must include measures to prevent contamination of the ocean, the aquifer, and the atmosphere, among other things, according to the letter sent to the head of Andersen’s 36th Civil Engineer Squadron.
