Joint Base Cape Cod Cleanup Team (JBCCCT) is Holding a Virtual Meeting
6–8 p.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2024
The Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) and the Impact Area Groundwater Study
Program (IAGWSP) at Joint Base Cape Cod (JBCC) are hosting an online public meeting of
the JBCCCT on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, 6–8 p.m. The public is invited to attend the
meeting with representatives from the United States Environmental Protection Agency
(USEPA) and Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.
Public Comment Period Scheduled on Draft Decision Document Nov. 1–30, 2024
AFCEC will present the Draft Final Decision Document No Further Response Action Planned
(NFRAP) Rifle Range and No Further Action Area Munitions Response Sites (MRS) at the
Otis Gun Club Munitions Response Area. This will be followed by a public hearing to solicit
public comment on the Draft Final Decision Document. A program lookahead by the
IAGWSP will be given. Additional AFCEC agenda items include program effects due to a
new USEPA PFAS drinking water standard; an update on PFAS source and groundwater
plume investigations since the July JBCCCT meeting; and a brief update on AFCEC’s now
finalized Community Involvement Plan.
The meeting is open to the public at the Microsoft Teams link:
You may need to download the Microsoft Teams App. Please sign in as a guest. To ask a
question, select the “raise your hand” icon and wait to be acknowledged. Logging in 10–15
minutes early is suggested. You can also attend the meeting by calling (443) 342-4948 and
entering conference ID: 795 906 674#.
The meeting presentations and agenda will be posted to the following links by Nov. 13:
A 30-day public comment period will be held November 1–30, 2024, on the Draft Final
Decision Document NFRAP Rifle Range and No Further Action Area MRS at the Otis Gun
Club Munitions Response Area. Based on the conditions at the Rifle Range MRS and the No
Further Action Area MRS, AFCEC has determined: (1) there is no evidence of materials of
explosive concern or munitions constituents; (2) there is no present risk to human health or
the environment. Therefore, a no further action decision is appropriate under CERCLA and
the Rifle Range MRS and the No Further Action Area MRS can be classified as NFRAP. The
Draft Final Decision Document has been provided to the main libraries of Falmouth, Mashpee,
Sandwich and Bourne and will be made available online by Nov. 1 at the following link:
