Dear Vapor Intrusion Community Member, Please consider joining the upcoming hybrid (virtual and in person) 2026 EPA VI Science Workshop within the AEHS conference:Addressing Vapor Intrusion in the Natural Environment Before Entry to the Human Built Environment, on Tuesday March 17, 2026 from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM PST. Background Vapor intrusion (VI) remains a critical pathway of exposure in contaminated sites, yet current assessment and mitigation practices often rely on static assumptions that fail to capture real-world dynamic variability. This workshop will provide an in-depth exploration of evolving strategies for VI characterization, risk management, and regulatory alignment including the concept of addressing vapor contamination in the natural environment prior to it entering the even more complex and variable human-built environment. Agenda The workshop will cover a broad array of topics including: - the integration of subslab and external soil gas data into recent sampling strategy performance analyses,
- reviewing sampling strategies at both building and neighborhood scales, supporting decisions that balance cost, accuracy, and public health protection,
- emerging topics such as PFAS vapor intrusion, conceptual site modeling, and more,
- a run through of our simulation tool to show how it can elucidate the economic and environmental protection tradeoffs between various approaches to managing vapor intrusion sites.
Previous conference presentations and overviews of the Vapor Intrusion Site Investigation tool can be found on our program website: IAVI As a key member of the VI community, we value your input and invite you to submit feedback during our open discussion periods at the conference or by submitting feedback directly to our workshop email address, indoorairvaporintrusion@rti.org. Thanks for your interest and feedback, *To attend in person, please register for the AEHS West Coast Conference and Workshop 4: U.S. EPA State of Vapor Intrusion ScienceWest Coast Registration | AEHS
