Army discusses pilot study to treat groundwater contamination at Area B By Marwa Barakat Frederick News-Post (MD) September 12, 2025 The U.S. Army is looking to pilot a groundwater study at Fort Detrick’s Area B in 2026, if federal funds are approved. The enhanced reductive dechlorination study is tentative to start next year as the Army awaits fiscal year 2026 federal funding appropriations to be approved, according to presentations made during Area B’s Restoration Advisory Board meeting on Wednesday.
