Subject: | [CPEO-BIF] DTSC Urban Cleanup Loan Programs Rescheduled |
http://www.dtsc.ca.gov CLEAN Brownfields Loan Program Workshops scheduled for February 13th in the Glendale Office and February 14th in the Sacramento Office have been tentatively rescheduled: March 15th in the Glendale Office and March 20th in the Sacramento Office. Please contact Sandi Jones at 916-324-0706 for further information. On September 29, 2000, Governor Gray Davis signed into law the "Cleanup Loans and Environmental Assistance to Neighborhoods (CLEAN) Program" establishing new financial incentives to encourage local government, developers and private property owners to redevelop abandoned and under-utilized urban properties in California. The Emergency Regulations, http://www.dtsc.ca.gov/docs/admin/uclp/docs/brownfields_emergencyregs.html including the loan application, were approved on January 19, 2001. The cleanup and sustainable reuse of brownfields can produce significant environmental, economic and public health benefits. The CLEAN program (SB 667, Sher) http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/99-00/bill/sen/sb_0651-0700/sb_667_bill_20000929_chaptered.html marks another step in California's longstanding efforts to promote economic vitality at these sites, while ensuring that the State's environmental standards are met. The Program will make available $85 million from the General Fund for loans to investigate and clean sites. The major program elements are described on the CLEAN program Fact Sheet (PDF format). http://www.dtsc.ca.gov/docs/admin/uclp/docs/uclpfactsheet.pdf If you have more questions about the CLEAN program, or would like to sign up to receive email updates, please send your name, company affiliation, and email address to sjones@dtsc.ca.gov or contact Sandi Jones at (916) 324-0706.
