Cleanup of Carmel City Center site will be costly

CARMEL, Ind. -- Cleaning contaminated soil on property the city wants for part
of its City Center project could cost up to $600,000 and take five years. 

That's the initial conclusion of a new study conducted for the Carmel
Redevelopment Commission by SESCO Group, an Indianapolis-based consulting firm.


The contamination is so extensive that the company was legally required to
notify the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, said Gregg Romaine,
who is in charge of strategic development and brownfield services for the
company.
