Subject: | [CPEO-BIF] ICMA Announces Study |
FOR RELEASE ON November 19, 2001 Contact: Riti Dhesi, 202/962-3657 <rdhesi@icma.org> Dorothy Morrison, 202/962-3585 <dmorrison@icma.org> ICMA Announces Study on Local Government and Community Engagement in Brownfields Redevelopment Washington, DC-The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) announced today that it is seeking applications from local governments and community groups interested in participating in its case study, "Local Government and Community Engagement in Brownfields Redevelopment." Through a cooperative grant from the Environmental Protection Agency, ICMA will work with selected communities in the area of brownfields redevelopment and land use planning to document local government policies and practices in conducting community outreach and education. The study will focus on the multi-faceted issues of brownfields redevelopment and the specific techniques local governments use to engage and inform community members. In addition, ICMA will work with community groups to determine the most effective methods that can be used by local governments to engage communities in land use planning. ICMA will publish a final report that describes the research collected. The report will discuss the activities of both the local government and community groups and share the methods used in developing successful brownfields redevelopment projects. The research will focus on both the community's perception of the local government's community involvement process as well as local government's perception of the community's participation. In this way, the research will document best practices and barriers to successful communication between local governments and the citizens they serve. To learn more about ICMA's "Local Government and Community Engagement in Brownfields Redevelopment" research study or to request an application to participate in the study, please contact Riti Dhesi at 202/962-3657 or e-mail, rdhesi@icma.org. About ICMA ICMA promotes excellence in local government through professional management. Toward this end, ICMA provides an information clearinghouse, technical assistance, and training and professional development to nearly 8,000 chief appointed administrators, assistant administrators, and other individuals internationally. ICMA's resources and services reach more than 50,000 local, county, and state government professionals, academics, and consultants. -- Lenny Siegel Director, Center for Public Environmental Oversight c/o PSC, 222B View St., Mountain View, CA 94041 Voice: 650/961-8918 or 650/969-1545 Fax: 650/961-8918 lsiegel@cpeo.org http://www.cpeo.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To read CPEO's archived Brownfields messages visit http://www.cpeo.org/lists/brownfields If this email has been forwarded to you and you'd like to subscribe, please send a message to cpeo-brownfields-subscribe@igc.topica.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ==^================================================================ This email was sent to: cpeo-brownfields@npweb.craigslist.org EASY UNSUBSCRIBE click here: http://igc.topica.com/u/?aVxieR.aVGyPL Or send an email to: cpeo-brownfields-unsubscribe@igc.topica.com T O P I C A -- Register now to manage your mail! http://www.topica.com/partner/tag02/register ==^================================================================ | |
