Subject: | [CPEO-BIF] New Partners for Smart Growth Conference |
The Following is a message from Tim Torma sent to the CPEO Moderator: Friday, November 23, 2001 2:50 PM New Partners for Smart Growth Conference Torma.Tim@epamail.epa.gov >From January 24-26, 2001, the New Partners for Smart Growth conference in San Diego will again bring together diverse constituencies and help us learn how smart growth can address each of their concerns. It will examine how we can most effectively work together toward a common goal?creating safe, healthy, and more livable communities, and a higher quality of life for all. The conference will be held at the historicU.S. Grant Hotel located in the heart of San Diego's downtown business district (326 Broadway). For registration, agenda, and other information, go to: http://www.outreach.psu.edu/C&I/SmartGrowth/about.html Smart growth and livable community strategies have received national prominence because of their effectiveness in addressing traffic congestion, improving air quality, and preserving open space. However, many challenges facing society are exacerbated by poor community planning?including public health, crime and public safety, community economic vitality, water quality, and other environmental concerns, as well as mobility for seniors, the economically disadvantaged, and children. This conference will benefit local elected officials, city and county staff, law enforcement/crime prevention professionals, transportation professionals, public health professionals, architects, developers, landscape architects, planners, educators, youth leaders, park and recreation professionals, urban designers, realtors, public works professionals, senior citizen advocates, bicycle and pedestrian advocates, and all others who seek practical, holistic, community-based strategies for rehumanizing the places where we live and work. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To read CPEO's archived Brownfields messages visit http://www.cpeo.org/lists/brownfields If this email has been forwarded to you and you'd like to subscribe, please send a message to cpeo-brownfields-subscribe@igc.topica.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ==^================================================================ This email was sent to: cpeo-brownfields@npweb.craigslist.org EASY UNSUBSCRIBE click here: http://igc.topica.com/u/?aVxieR.aVGyPL Or send an email to: cpeo-brownfields-unsubscribe@igc.topica.com T O P I C A -- Register now to manage your mail! http://www.topica.com/partner/tag02/register ==^================================================================ | |
