Subject: [CPEO-BIF] TCE complicates Giants' Arizona training facility development
 
Toxic site may hamper Giants plan

SCOTTSDALE - Building a new San Francisco Giants training facility
adjacent to Scottsdale Stadium could be complicated by the fact that
there are toxic-chemical issues tied to the site, city spokesman Pat
Dodds said.

The 10-acre site east of the stadium is one of three locations the city
is considering for the $18 million training complex that would include
new baseball fields, batting cages and a clubhouse. 

The stadium site could present complications because there is a
monitoring well northeast of the stadium as part of a federal Superfund
cleanup project involving groundwater contamination with a toxic
chemical called trichloroethylene or TCE.
