Emerson to test up to 52 homes for chemicals ROGER DUPUIS II Ithaca Journal (NY) September 27, 2004 ITHACA -- As many as 52 homes around Emerson Power Transmission could be part of an initial round of indoor air quality testing slated to start this week. That's 20 more homes than were targeted under a proposal submitted to state officials last month. "We've already received permission from a number of residents to set up testing inside their homes," said Derek E. Chase, Emerson's director of environmental affairs. "We are committed to working closely with the homeowners and the state through this process, as well as to provide results as soon as that information becomes available." Non-residential soil vapor, or vadose zone testing downhill from Emerson's plant in June detected evidence of trichloroethylene (TCE) and related chemicals cis-1,1-dichloroethene, tetrachloroethene and 1,1,1-trichloroethane in sampling at nine sites.
