Pollution fight builds in Norwich Buildings get ventilation units BY TOM WILBER Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin (NY) July 9, 2005 An underground plume of trichloroethylene (TCE) gas is pushing its way into Norwich buildings, prompting the state to install ventilation systems like ones addressing similar problems in Hillcrest and Endicott. State officials would not say how many of the 45 structures they have tested in Norwich will qualify for the systems until after property owners are notified. That should happen in about two weeks, said Thomas Suozzo, an engineer with the Department of Environmental Conservation. Suozzo confirmed that work has begun to install systems on some structures, and more testing will be necessary to define the extent of the problem, called vapor intrusion. ...
