Large, polluted East Bank site might finally go condo By Jeremy Stratton Minneapolis Skyway News (MN) August 14, 2005 After years of speculation, a polluted East Bank industrial site may finally have found a developer that can handle its costly, complicated transformation into residential condominiums. Superior Plating is in a very early stage of negotiations with Ryan Cos. about the sale of 315 1st Ave. NE, according to principals at both firms. Superior Plating President Michael McMonagle says the deal must include the existing factory's relocation- to a new facility Ryan would build for perhaps $18-20 million. That's before a condo project gets off the ground - and then there are unknown pollution cleanup costs at the state-designated Superfund site. ...
