Money still lacking for View-Master health study Attempts to assess the effect of chemicals spilled at the former plant in Beaverton are on hold as researchers wait for funds RICHARD COLBY The Oregonian September 8, 2005 BEAVERTON -- Potentially groundbreaking findings about the health effects of a chemical dumped at the old View-Master site in Beaverton may be on hold indefinitely as the project waits for federal money. A state agency has begun looking into whether trichloroethylene -- or TCE -- in drinking water could have harmed workers at the now-demolished toy plant. The site is considered a unique and valuable opportunity to study the chemical's health effects, but researchers still haven't received money for the study's initial or later phases. All told, the research project is expected to cost $2 million. ...
