Salem takes aim at industrial siteBy Alyson Iott South Lyon Herald (MI) January 26, 2006 Not many people remember campaign promises — especially, it seems, the people who make them. But by working to clean up the former Johnson Products site, Salem Township Clerk David Trent is honoring a campaign promise that hits close to home. The Johnson Products property sits on 8 acres near the intersection of Six Mile and Angle roads. During his election run in 2004, Trent pledged that he would do his best to have the site cleaned up. That's a taller order than it sounds. The Johnson Products site is being called a brownfield, and is strongly suspected to be contaminated by unknown hazardous chemicals. ..
