400 tons of soil to be removed from polluted site TCE found at Endicott property By Tom Wilber Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin (NY) January 31, 2006 ENDICOTT — Cleaning pollution at the site of a former electronics plant at 312 Maple St. will require removing at least 400 tons of dirt tainted with trichloroethylene (TCE) and more testing to see whether it has affected nearby properties, documents from the state Department of Environmental Conservation show. Details of the plan will be outlined during a public meeting Feb. 9 at Union-Endicott High School. Broome County Planner Frank Evangelisti said a date has not been finalized for work at the site, which Broome County acquired for a tax debt in 1994. Access to part of the site must be coordinated with Northern Suffolk railroad, which state documents show as the owner of a right of way that runs over part of the contaminated area. ...
