Ford City rejects sale of brownfield property

FORD CITY -- A developer who wanted to buy brownfield property owned by 
the borough to build a technology park had its proposal rejected by council.

Council turned down Ryan Bloser's Rysc Group's offer of $225,000 for 50 
acres of vacant former PPG Industries riverside property by a unanimous 
vote at a public meeting Thursday.

Bloser made the offer June 5.

Council gave two reasons for not selling the land to Bloser's company -- 
the price was too low, and 17 of the 50 acres, reserved for a riverfront 
recreational area and trail project, were not for sale, council members 
said.
