Interim remedial measure to begin at Page Industrial Site

(Town of Poughkeepsie) – Environmental field activities will begin this 
month in anticipation of implementing an interim remedial measure for 
the Page Industrial Site in the Page Industrial Park off Route 55 in the 
Town of Poughkeepsie.

More recent site investigations revealed that elevated VOC 
concentrations continue to exist in the ground water. In 2003, due to 
concerns that indoor air may have been impacted, a soil vapor 
investigation was conducted beneath the floor slab of the building. That 
found soil vapor at significant levels.

In October, soil borings will be conducted to obtain necessary 
information to construct an interim remedial measure to break down the 
VOCs in the groundwater and to enhance the natural biological breakdown 
of those compounds before they migrate off-site.
