City looking for 'creative solution' to problems with turning former foundry site into public park By Don Reid Coldwater Daily Reporter (MI) March 14, 2008 COLDWATER - For nearly 20 years, the city of Coldwater wanted to turn the Marmon-owned former Midwest Foundry site, between Park and Hooker streets in the First Ward, into a public park. It sits as a vast wasteland of weeds, concrete and fencing. That dream seemed close, possibly by year's end. But now City Attorney Charles Bappert said a hitch developed with Marmon because the land is a "Brownfield" site under regulation of the Michigan Department of Environmental Regulation (MDEQ). He hopes there is a "creative solution" to the problem. ...
