Subject: [CPEO-BIF] Car Doctors auto salvage site, Muncie, Indiania
Blight Watch: Site was salvage yard, dump, bulk gas and oil facility

Muncie Star Press (IN)
August 11, 2008

An environmental consultant hired by the city is recommending a comprehensive investigation of the soil and ground water at the former Car Doctors auto salvage yard, regarded as one of the city's worst commercial/industrial eyesores.

An environmental assessment of the property at 1004 S. Burlington Drive was performed by Symbiont, an Indianapolis firm.

The five-acre site bordered by a stretch of Cardinal Greenway is ranked as the city's third-worst brownfield -- abandoned or under-utilized real estate that is not being re-used because of hazardous substances.
