Construction starts on Kroc community center The project at Keowee and Webster streets is due to be completed in 2010. By Margo Rutledge Kissell Dayton Daily News (OH) September 13, 2008DAYTON - Construction is under way on the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center at Keowee and Webster streets. The $40 million construction project was delayed several months because the 17.5-acre property falls within a plume of contaminated groundwater near the Behr Dayton Thermal Products plant, 1600 Webster St. The center is being built by the Dayton command of the Salvation Army. Maj. Tom Duperree of the Dayton command said addressing the environmental concerns will cost the charity an unanticipated $1.2 million to $1.5 million. ...
