Old mill a target for use again
Baugh seeks revival of site south of Anderson

An old, polluted paper mill site is getting some fresh attention from 
Shasta County officials who see it as an economic-development boon — 
though one also considered a major fixer-upper.

Cleanup of the former Shasta Paper Co. site, closed in August 2001, 
comes with an estimated price tag of about $3 million, said Jim Pedri, 
assistant executive officer for the state's Regional Water Quality 
Control Board's Central Valley area.

Little abatement progress has been made since May 2004, when the 
375-acre site sold for $500,001 to Winemucca Trading Company Limited 
Inc., based in the British Virgin Islands.
