Old mill a target for use again Baugh seeks revival of site south of Anderson By Kimberly Ross Redding Record-Searchlight (CA) September 13, 2008An old, polluted paper mill site is getting some fresh attention from Shasta County officials who see it as an economic-development boon — though one also considered a major fixer-upper. Cleanup of the former Shasta Paper Co. site, closed in August 2001, comes with an estimated price tag of about $3 million, said Jim Pedri, assistant executive officer for the state's Regional Water Quality Control Board's Central Valley area. Little abatement progress has been made since May 2004, when the 375-acre site sold for $500,001 to Winemucca Trading Company Limited Inc., based in the British Virgin Islands. ...
