BorgWarner cleaning up polluted ground water One of the contaminants of concern is TCE, a solvent used to remove grease. By SETH SLABAUGH Muncie Star Press (IN) May 3, 2009MUNCIE -- BorgWarner is voluntarily cleaning up ground-water contamination from its drivetrain facility that closed a week ago nearly 80 years after opening. The company has been participating in the Indiana Department of Environmental Management's voluntary remediation program for years. "The contaminants of concern are BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene), MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether), TCE (trichloroethylene) and its breakdown products, including vinyl chloride," said Barry Sneed, a spokesman for IDEM. ...
