Tech company plans to develop brownfield site By VALERIE WEST Oakland Press (MI) May 9, 2009NOVI - A technology-driven company is looking for a new home in Novi. The city recently approved its first-ever brownfield project for Oxid Corp. A brownfield is an under-used commercial or industrial property to be redeveloped, usually with a history of contamination. "(Novi is) a new community, so you don't see much of that,": said Ara Topouzian, economic development director for the city. Oxid will be at 25275 Regency Drive, where existing buildings built in the early 2000s were partially constructed but never used, Topouzian said, adding the site does have soil contamination. Some of the contaminants in the soil include lead and benzene, said Brad Hansen, Oakland County environmental program coordinator. ...
